I know I\u2019m dating myself here.\u00a0 Growing up, I would spend extensive amounts of time plotting how to make this happen.\u00a0 Someone told me I had to buy more magazine subscriptions.\u00a0 But which ones?\u00a0 Did it matter?\u00a0 I likely saw those infamous commercials of him surprising lucky individuals in between episodes of Family Feud and The Price is Right.<\/p>\n
Life was so simple then.\u00a0 What did I think I was going to do with all of that money?\u00a0 Why, at such a young age, did that have such appeal?<\/p>\n
Your feelings around money all depend on how you grew up and what conversations, or lack thereof, you had with your parents. \u00a0How have those feelings evolved? \u00a0How do you feel about the money that you make? \u00a0Is your spending aligned with your values?\u00a0 Are you saving enough? \u00a0How do you quantify \u201cenough?\u201d \u00a0Do you have insurance and an estate plan?\u00a0 Are you charitable?<\/p>\n
Let\u2019s be honest: you are the expert of your own life.\u00a0 My role is to be the finance project manager.\u00a0 I hold you accountable, and I expect you to participate and be engaged.\u00a0 I measure progress almost akin to the mile markers in a marathon.\u00a0 Why think of the finish line, long before it\u2019s within sight?\u00a0 What variables might change before you approach your goal?<\/p>\n
